Key backers include SoftBank and OpenAI, with SoftBank handling financial oversight and OpenAI leading operations. Masayoshi Son, SoftBank’s CEO, will serve as chairman of Stargate. The project aims to create hundreds of thousands of jobs, reindustrialize the U.S., and bolster national security, with initial deployments starting in Texas and plans for expansion nationwide.
Despite the ambitious vision, skepticism has surfaced. Elon Musk criticized the project, questioning whether the funds for such a massive undertaking actually exist, casting doubt on the feasibility of Stargate’s lofty goals.
