Meta is doubling down on artificial intelligence, with plans to invest up to $65 billion in 2025. The ambitious strategy includes constructing a massive data center and ramping up hiring for its AI teams, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Friday.

Zuckerberg described the upcoming data center as a facility “so large that it would cover a significant part of Manhattan,” emphasizing the scale of the project. The company aims to bring a gigawatt of computing power online in 2025 and expects to close the year with more than 1.3 million GPUs, critical for powering AI development.

“This is a massive effort, and over the coming years, it will drive our core products and business, unlock historic innovation, and extend American technology leadership,” Zuckerberg wrote in a Facebook post.

Meta has been heavily investing in AI, recently unveiling a $10 billion data center in Louisiana and acquiring advanced computer chips to support AI-driven products like its virtual assistant and Ray-Ban smartglasses. Zuckerberg also revealed plans to “significantly grow” Meta’s AI teams in 2025.

With these bold moves, Meta is positioning itself as a key player in the race to lead AI innovation while reinforcing its technological dominance.
